“Living intentionally, preaching purposefully, and pastoring circumspectly for the glory of Jesus Christ and the perfecting of God’s people.”

John Ugentrouse Minion, Sr. was called by the LORD into the gospel ministry at 11 years old, and licensed by older seasoned preachers in the same year. He was a highly sought after speaker almost instantly. Under the strict oversight of a studious stepfather, James Calvert, Sr., who was also a licensed and ordained preacher, he learned to communicate God’s word with reverential faith and an abiding appreciation for the honor of God’s call on his life.

A man of great insight and good humor, John Minion is a devoted pastor who takes his God ordained assignment seriously, genuinely loves those in his care and enjoys his work.

Oasis of Hope Baptist Church of Indianapolis is his third pastoral assignment. Since 1996, Pastor Minion is joyfully married to Danielle Monique (formerly Thomas). They have five beautiful children: J. “JJ” Ugentrouse, Jr., William Onesimus, Gabrielle AnnMarie, Nigel Manasseh, and Yana Sophia.

Pastor Minion is an expositional Bible preacher and knowledgeable teacher of the Scriptures. He prayerfully aspires to preach the gospel of Christ clearly and handle the text with accuracy and compassion that the hearer might “have a conviction to mature, an appreciation for truth and purpose to express ourselves in love.”

“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.“
—Ephesians 4:11-13

“Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart,
who will feed you on knowledge and understanding.“
—Jeremiah 3:15
