MISSION: At Oasis of Hope, our mission is to bring individuals, families, and communities into a maturing relationship with Jesus Christ through Bible-based preaching, teaching, and loving relationships. PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The Assistant Pastor of Ministries will assist the Senior Pastor in teaching, preaching, and the administration of the ministries at Oasis of Hope Baptist Church. We envision the ideal candidate to be a strategic thinker who is highly collaborative and promotes teamwork and unity within our leadership team and our local body.

Responsibilities: The Assistant Pastor of Ministries will report and serve under the direction and supervision of the Senior Pastor 

  • Be the primary point of contact for Committee Chairpersons and Ministry Team Leaders. 
  • Support the Senior Pastor in the accomplishment of the church’s mission through ministry effectiveness evaluation, discernment, decision-making, and planning.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor in the designing and upholding a structure for the church ministries based on the church’s current goals and resources.
  • Work closely with the head of each ministry to ensure understanding of the church vision and how it directly impacts their ministry.
  • Train and develop all leadership teams towards an effective reach of the church’s overall mission through a leadership development pathway. 
  • Preach and teach in the Worship Service and Life Bible Classes as assigned by the Senior Pastor  
  • Envision, recruit, and equip volunteer workers to help develop the ministries.
  • Assist the Senior Pastor in the recruitment, training, equipping, supervision and care of the leaders of the church.
  • Perform general pastoral ministries of the church such as pastoral care, teaching, counseling, visitation, etc.
  • Assist in other church ministry activities as needed.
  • Attend church staff and ministry meetings.

Qualifications: The candidate should be a mature Christian and should have a clear sense of God’s call to ministry. The candidate must demonstrate experience leading ministries at a Christian church and should be professionally trained, is currently receiving training in ministry, or willing to pursue further training. The candidate should subscribe to the Oasis of Hope Baptist Church belief statement found on the church website. Additionally, the candidate should:

  • As set out in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:6-9.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with the Senior Pastor, staff, and congregation members.
  • Ability to counsel and disciple.
  • Exhibit a growing and mature relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Have a pastoral heart and love for people.
  • Be capable in preaching and teaching God’s Word.

This position pays an annual salary of $50,000.00, but it does not provide medical or retirement benefits. The position does offer the following annually:

  • Paid time off for the week between December 25 and January 1.
